I want to live longer than 74.

Today, I received an email titled Breaking News. It informed us that a founder of a company I follow in the real estate world had died at the age of 74. If I were to die at 74, I would only have 37 more years to live. I am currently 37. I cannot fathom having lived half of my life already. I am just now getting started.

I just took a break to write a letter to my grandfather.

I am here today because of him.

He is my oldest family member, and I owe him my life.

PaPa,

I love you more than life itself. You are amazing, and I am so grateful you are my grandfather. I have always looked up to you. You are the rock and foundation of the Schilleci family, and it is no wonder why I have stayed attached to my last name over the years. Not once have I thought about giving it up. It is part of my identity. You are part of my identity. I hope you are proud of yourself and what you have accomplished.

I just got an email that a real estate state mogul who I know little about died at the age of 74. If I were to die at 74, at this very moment, half of my life would be over. I hate that idea. I want to live forever.

I think the concept of leaving a legacy behind when we die, is the greatest gift we can give to this world. You birthed a legacy, and I, as your grandchild, strive to make you proud.

Thank you for always being my cheerleader, and thank you for working as hard has you have over the years.

Thank you for never making my life easy for me. Thank you for never bailing me out. Thank you for letting me live my life, with its checks in balances in place as God intended.

You will always live within my soul, and I cherish you.

I love you lots.

Love, JoJo.

P.S. Be here forever.

My father, too, has left a great impression on me. He helped me find my words, and he is someone I want to live forever.

I hope I am on the other side of the greatest battles I have had in my life, but if I am not, I know I have the strength to overcome those struggles as well.

If you feel like you are fighting to get to the other side, know that it is temporary and that you have the power to achieve your wildest dreams.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Hugs, Jo

P.S. Back in 2017, I had a podcast. I started a series called #pocumenting (podcast + documenting), and it was an interview with my grandfather. You can find it here.
